Joy doesn’t ask for permission. Maybe that’s exactly what it’s meant to be. Not something we check or soften— just stepping in, head first, fully there. Poppies feel like that. Bright red, almost too much for their thin stems, moving with the wind, not against it. I still think about those fields in Provence— stretching out, alive in every direction. A little wild. Completely present. Offering everything they are. Joy isn’t something we wait for. It’s something we step into— and let ourselves be right there with it.
