Provenance
This painting explores quiet companionship within a vast, luminous landscape. Two resting cows occupy the foreground, set apart from the distant herd, creating a moment of intimacy against an expansive field. I was drawn to the contrast between closeness and distance—the quiet bond of the pair held within the openness of the land. Color is central to the work. I intentionally heightened the yellow tones of the meadow, allowing the field to carry a sense of warmth and presence. Rather than treating light as neutral, I used it as an active force—casting reflective hues across the cows, shifting shadows into cool violets and blues. These color relationships create a sense of atmosphere and suggest the way light transforms what we see. The brushwork remains loose and responsive, prioritizing feeling over precision. Forms dissolve slightly into their surroundings, reinforcing a sense of stillness and integration with the landscape.
